Job Purpose: The Solutions Engineer is located on Fort Meade and supports a large federal agency’s efforts with engineering design, development, testing, and implementation to support long-term IT engineering solutions as well as provide operational technical analysis and engineering support.

• Conducts engineering and system design, analysis, and transition across networking and computing environments to support configuration, change, and life cycle management.
• Leverages industry-based best practices to ensure IA compliance, integration, automation, and scalability when designing engineering solutions.
• Engineering and design of major long-term efforts, conducts engineering technical analysis to support resolving issues for the development and implementation of operational programs.
• Life Cycle Replacement planning and coordination.

Required:
o Completes activities to support system integration, system evaluation and analysis, site surveys, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems and architectures.
o Conduct advanced research and analysis of current systems to support development of strategic implementation plans and designs, document and mitigate risks as well as lessons learned, and provide regular updates.
o Research and collaborate with vendors and various groups, such as R&D, Server and Network teams, and provide recommendations on how to leverage emerging technology to improve mission assurance.
o Conducts engineering technical analysis to support resolving issues through application of engineering theories and concepts.
o Maintain a strong understanding of networking architecture, servers, systems design, virtual hosts, and configuration management and licensing.
o Support the operational assessment and documentation of systems security and compliance posture to maintain accreditation.
o Provide input to project schedules, identify and mitigate risks, document lessons learned, and deliver regular updates to stakeholders and leadership.

Desired:
o Systems engineering design and operations experience.
o Solution engineering design and transition for Active Directory, VMware, Endpoint and Identify Management solutions.
o Exhibit the flexibility to multitask, refocus and shift priorities to support the mission, warfighter and customer requirements.
o Adapt for working in team oriented or independent projects.
o Experience in System Development Life Cycle
o Experience in designing systems architectures, such as DODAF.
o Document Standing Operating Procedures and guides.

Preferred:
o Knowledge of component level and integrated systems verification planning.
o Specific technologies: SolarWinds, SCCM, Active Directory, Desktop EndPoint Solutions, Identify Management (SailPoint) & Virtual Hosting/Data Storage Management

Clearance: Must currently hold an active SECRET with SSBI security clearance.

Education and Experience: This position requires at least (5) five years’ experience providing relevant IT support with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related discipline. Working knowledge of fundamental operations of relevant software, hardware, and other equipment, built upon a service delivery format such as ITIL. Proficient in Windows and IT administration and maintenance, strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Office suites, and basic network and security fundamentals. Experience in call tracking applications and customer service practices. Systems Engineering Certificates, Sec + ce, Agile, Len/Six Sigma (Green Belt) desired. DOD 8570.01-M IAT-II compliance required at start. Experience in or work for the U.S. military is also highly desirable.
